News Posts
Publish news and stories: posts, featured images, and where they appear
News lives in the standard Posts menu. The site uses the classic editor, so writing a post feels like a familiar word processor rather than a block builder.
Publishing a post
Create the post
Go to Posts → Add New. Write a specific, descriptive title. It's also what shows up in listings and search results.
Write the body
Use headings for structure and keep paragraphs short. Images placed in the body should get alt text when you add them.
Set the featured image
The featured image is the post's thumbnail everywhere it's listed. Posts without one look bare on the listing page — always set it.
Add an excerpt and category
The excerpt is the short teaser listings show. If you skip it, the site uses the first words of the post, which often cuts off mid-thought. A category keeps the archive organized.
Publish
Preview first, then publish. The post appears on the News & Events listing on its own (allow a few minutes for caching).
Featuring a post on the homepage
The homepage's News & Events section is hand-picked, not automatic. To feature a post there, edit the Home page and add it to the News & Events section's featured items — see Page Sections.
Published but not seeing it on the site? It's almost always caching — see the FAQ for the fix.
